Hi there! I’m Kristin Baird, the maker behind Hey Kitty Rae, and I am a one woman studio. I started this shop as an outlet for my creativity after spending some time as a stay at home mom. Most of my days are spent in my basement studio fulfilling my passion of making dolls while my kids are at school. I love to create with my hands, design new patterns and, although I tend to gravitate toward sewing, I also love to knit and crochet.

I’ve been a maker since I was very young, preferring crafts to just about every other form of entertainment. Then, after high school, I was drawn to Interior Design and i n 2009, I obtained a Bachelor’s of Interior Design from Utah State University. I wanted my schedule to be more flexible as a mother, so I turned back to my love of crafting.

In 2012, I started a blog (kits-crafts.com) where I provided various tutorials to encourage others to make things. About 2 years in, I decided to start selling my handmade goods at various local markets. I had some success, but took a break when I was pregnant with my second child as the pregnancy drained me of all ambition.

Not long after my second child was born, my husband got a job in Rome, Italy. We lived abroad for almost 2 years and hope to move back some day.
Upon returning to the states toward the end of 2017, I got right back to work, sewing up a storm for local markets. I was hoping to build my business only on in person sales, however, the Covid pandemic hit and it was clear that if I wanted to continue my passion project, it would have to move online.
